OnsenBase participates in affiliate programs of online travel agencies including Agoda, Booking.com, Trip.com and Expedia (via networks such as Travelpayouts). When you click a booking link on this site and complete a reservation, we may earn a commission. You never pay more because of it — the price is identical to going to the OTA directly.

What this does not change

• Properties are selected by the public criteria described in each article (price rank, review thresholds, bookability from abroad) — never by commission rate.
• When a property we consider excellent earns us little or nothing, we include it anyway and mark it clearly.
• Negative facts (heated water instead of onsen, "no view" rooms, dated buildings) are stated even when they make a sale less likely.
